Primary responsibilities include providing clear and accurate ASL/English interpreting services for Access’ clients mainly in the DC Metropolitan Area. Interpreter will provide services in settings which include, but are not limited to, business or professional meetings, trainings, medical appointments, conferences, media events, performing arts performances, graduate and undergraduate settings, platform presentations, legal and Access Video Interpreter Applications (AVIA). Must wear appropriate attire for the setting and provide high levels of friendly customer services at all times to Access’ clients.
Additional responsibilities include occasionally representing Access at tradeshows and conferences and performing other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Access Assistant Interpreter Manager.
A minimum of two years professional interpreting experience OR an undergraduate degree in interpreting or a related field is required. National Certification of NAD III, RID CI/CT, NIC or better is required. Applicant must demonstrate fluency in English and American Sign Language, including excellent expressive and receptive skill and receive and evaluation of “Pass” on AI’s internal screening process. Applicants are required to provide proof of legal ability to work, may be expected to provide a resume or application with a profile of professional experience, and must agree to periodic public record background checks.
