Deaf Culture Seminars

Deaf Culture Seminars offer practical strategies to enable effective interactions between Deaf and Hard of Hearing people and their hearing co-workers. While our business aim is provide equal access to communication and information, we recognize that successful interactions at your workplace are not influenced by language alone.

Seminars on Deaf culture are devoted to helping both hearing and Deaf participants understand:

  • Differences between communication methodologies
  • How cultural perspectives lead to differing expectations and perspectives
  • How these differences can impact work environments
  • How examples specific to their workplace illustrate the points brought up in the presentation
  • How to communicate more effectively in the workplace to avoid misunderstandings

We must emphasize that one cannot learn about any entire culture in one hour, one day, or even a week; Deaf Studies is an entire field of academia on an international scale. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile to have open discussions about what it means to be a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person in a hearing environment.

Sessions are tailored to suit each organization’s needs. Please contact us to discuss what type of seminar would be best for you.
