Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) involves the transcription of speech into text. This is done by a live person, not a computer software program, to ensure a greater degree of accuracy. The text can be viewed on a laptop, projection screen, or television monitor, allowing those who are hard of hearing or Deaf to read in realtime the information being shared by speakers.

Depending on the meeting environment, with the appropriate audio and visual equipment in place, those services can be provided on-site or remotely. CART accommodates Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals who prefer to participate in meetings, trainings and conferences by viewing information in written English.
